Over time, exposure to stress, critical incidents, loss of life, and organizational stressors can have a negative impact on the mental and physical health of law enforcement officers. Stigma about seeking help prevents many officers from getting the care they need to recover from trauma. There are actions that officers can take to increase resilience and bounce back from trauma. Resilience skills are active techniques that can be taught, and with continued use, improve the resilience of those that use them.
This training is provided through grants, private donations, and associations that provide funding. Since its inception, the program has evolved to a one-day training that challenges attendees to change the way they think to improve their resilience and their performance at work. Improvements in these areas lead to improved job satisfaction and morale as well as improved relationships at work and in their personal life.
Learn proven techniques, or build upon past trainings, to become more resilient while doing the job of a first responder. Resilience isn't something you have or may not have. Resilience can be taught. The techniques are easy to use and can be applied that day. Heck, some people even start using the techniques at lunch to start building or improving their relationships.
When asked if the Resilience Leadership Training met their expectations, participants selected ‘strongly agree’ more often than any other response. Furthermore, just over 93% of participants ‘agree’ or ‘strongly agree’ that the training met or exceeded their expectations. First Responders were then asked to comment on their overall satisfaction with the training, here are a few responses from officers:
